Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are some signs of a potential roofing problem?

In addition to any leaking, look for the following indications indoors: cracked paint, discolored plasterboard, and peeling wallpaper—all signs of damaged sheetrock.

  • If my roof leaks, do I need to have it totally replaced?

Not necessarily. Leaking can result because some flashings have come loose, or possibly a section of the roof has been damaged. Give us a call and we will evaluate your roof to determine if the system can be repaired or if a complete re-roof is necessary.

  • Tear Off vs Roof Over

A complete tear off and re-roof is recommended by Lakeside professionals. Roofing over another roof does not provide the same quality of roof, or offer the same level of security that a roof system installed when a complete removal is performed. A roof over also negates most warranties.

  • How long does it take to install a roof?

Most roofing projects are completed in just a few days. Variables such as the weather may cause a delay. Lakeside staff will remove and haul away the old roof system and any debris. Your home or business will not be impacted by the roofing project.

  • How long can I expect my roof to last?

The condition and lifespan of your roof will depend on the type of roof you have, the effects of your local environment and maintenance. According to the American Society of Home Inspectors, asphalt shingles generally last 15-20 years; wood shingle/shakes, 10-40 years; clay/concrete tiles, 20+ years; slate, 30-100 years; metal roofing, 15-40+ years.
